Self-development is necessary in certain areas of our lives, such as career advancement or even sports activities.  It gives us the ability to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself.  There are many opportunities available; you just have to be ready.  Life is full of unknown possibilities waiting to be discovered.  Here are some simple methods to ensure you are open to new opportunities:

• Know that you have opportunities all around you. The 1^st step is to believe the current people, places and situations you are involved with may lead to something bigger. Engaging in limited thinking keeps you from noticing opportunities around you.  You will open yourself up to new things if you can broaden your thinking.
• Step out and meet new people. Get to know people when you meet them. You may find that you have things in common.  You never know but there may be an opportunity you hadn’t considered.
• Throw away your pattern of limited thinking. Many of us adopt a style of thinking like, “This is all I will ever do and I’ve got to live with it.” How does this type of thinking affect your life and your ability to notice new opportunities?  When you limit your thoughts in this way you may be passing up a fabulous career opportunity.  Make a conscious decision to curb limited thinking.  The next best thing could be just around the corner.
• Avoid running from challenging projects at work. Those who take on these types of work tasks tend to learn so much and are given better opportunities in the future. Consider developing a reputation as the “go-to person” and advance your career, your checkbook may thank you.
• Voluntarily step in to fill voids. When you do, others will notice your efforts and you develop some new skills. You may be able to use some of the tasks as resume builders for example team work, project manager or leader, etc.

All of our lives are filled with an unknown brilliance that has not been tapped into yet.  We should put these strategies into action today and be on the lookout and take advantage of all opportunities presented to us.  A life filled with abundance is waiting for you!!!
