“Positive Action vs Positive Thinking – You Decide”

There seems to be a shift in society over the last several years to think positive and success and/or positive things will come to you.  There are even biblical references that some will use to support the change to thinking positive such as Proverbs 4:23, 23:7 just to name a few.  In addition to positive thinking, one must take some action in order to change their behavior in order to see positive results.  This does not have to require a lot of work just some simple actions to achieve meaningful results.  Here are a few actions you can take:

  • Do things in a new way. If you are trying to quit smoking, try smoking with the opposite hand.  It makes the behavior seem unusual to you and you will be less likely to smoke.  Doing it different will force you to think about it because it is such an automatic habit for you.
  • Smile more. The simple act of smiling makes you feel happier (not a fake one).  Smile big using your whole face and let it last for about 20 seconds to ensure your smile makes an impact.
  • Just start. Getting started is the hardest part of any change we want to make in our lives.  Try spending just a few minutes on the thing in your life you want to change.  You will find yourself less likely to procrastinate.
  • Act confident. Play the part.  Acting confident on the outside will help you to feel more confident on the inside.

Try some of the actions to see what impact they have on your life.  Remember, in order for you to change, you will have to take some positive actions.
